2nd year of the degree program (M1 year)

Students at the École Normale follow the Boris Ephrussi curriculum for the M1 in Biology and Health at Paris-Saclay University.
This master’s program consists of a core curriculum and course units chosen by the students. Since the master’s program includes approximately 130 elective course units, each student’s schedule is unique. The M1 year is divided into several periods:

  • Period 1 (8 weeks): scientific core curriculum and ENS courses
  • Period 2 (8 weeks): a series of four two-week periods of elective course units (so-called “block” course units)
  • Period 3 (7 weeks): so-called “consecutive” course units taking place on a fixed day each week (example: “Physiology of Regulation” every Monday, “Fundamental and Clinical Oncology” every Friday)
  • Period 4 (6 weeks): A series of 3 two-week periods of elective course units (so-called “intensive” course units)
